Job Description

ParkWest is hiring an AI Prompt Engineer to own prompt design, evaluation, and the lifecycle of prompts and agent workflows for client-facing AI features and internal automations. The role is full-time, remote in the United States, and open to rolling applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, version, and document prompts and agent workflows across client and internal products.
  • Build evaluation harnesses, including golden sets, rubrics, and automated graders, so quality is measurable.
  • Partner with engineering on retrieval pipelines, tool use, function calling, and guardrails.
  • Benchmark model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and open-source models on cost, latency, and quality.
  • Translate client workflows into structured prompts, schemas, and fallbacks engineers can ship.
  • Own the prompt lifecycle: monitor production traces, debug regressions, and ship improvements weekly.

Requirements

  • 2+ years working hands-on with LLMs in production, including prompts, agents, RAG, or fine-tuning.
  • Fluency with at least two major model providers and their tool-use and structured-output APIs.
  • Strong written communication so prompts and specs read like documentation.
  • Comfort with Python or TypeScript for evals, scripts, and lightweight pipeline work.
  • A portfolio or writeups of AI systems you have shipped, including failure modes.
  • Advantage: experience with eval frameworks such as Braintrust, Promptfoo, LangSmith, or Ragas, and with tracing tools.
  • Advantage: background in linguistics, technical writing, or applied ML research.
  • Advantage: experience shipping agentic systems with multi-step tool use in production.

Benefits

  • Salary band of $110,000 to $140,000 per year.
  • Annual performance bonus tied to company and personal goals.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents from day one.
  • Confidential employee assistance program and a dedicated mental-health benefit.
  • Flexible paid time off, separate paid sick days, and 13 paid holidays.
  • Home office setup stipend and a monthly allowance for tools, internet, and workspace.
  • Annual learning budget for conferences, courses, books, and certifications.
  • Employer matching on retirement contributions from the first day.
  • Parental leave top-up for new parents.
